Bihar flood relief and rehabilitation work
- Distributed 250 winter cloths among children.
- Repairing of 300 houses has been started.
- Repair work of 13 Madarsas/ Schools building completed.
- Repair work of 4 Masajids completed.
- Distributed food-grains among 220 families.
- Financial Support was given to 27 brides at the time of marriage.
- Coaching classes for metric students have been started at four places. Approximately 130 students are participating in each centre.
- Provided employment to 48 people.
- 51 hand-pumps were distributed.
- Medical treatment has been given to 71 patients those were seriously affected by water born-disease.
Social Service Wing Activities
Sponsorship obtained to Idare-e-Tahqeeqat Aligarh (Centre for Research and Studies) for constructing upstairs of the existing head quarters. The work is in progress.
Sponsored 100 more orphans at the cost of Rs.750 per month, apart from the existing sponsorship for 250 orphans.
Sponsored one orphanage at the cost of Rs.20 lakhs in Baleriaganj, UP. The initial work is going on.
Completed the construction of 10 more houses in different places of Meerut, Moradabad, Bijnore of UP, at the cost of Rs.25000 each house.
APCR - Socio-Legal Work
Legal-Social Activists' Workshop in Karnataka Bangalore: To empower the deprived sections through legal literacy and to build a nationwide network of legal social activists, Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), Delhi organized a Karnataka Level three day workshop from 24-26 January in Bangalore. Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Director, Training Division of APCR in his inaugural word, while explaining the objectives and rationale of workshop in particular and development of nationwide network of paralegal social activists said, this is required for because of three reasons. Firstly, the increasing human rights violations demand enhanced efforts in the field, a group of activist at every level. Secondly, the existing human and civil rights groups are facing dearth of workers, especially the youths. And finally the suffering people need trained facilitators and crisis managers from their own locality and communities to avoid the over dependence on outside initiatives, which very often are not available in critical circumstances. The present workshop in the first step to achieve the above mentioned target.
- At the time of Batla House encounter arranged a fact-finding mission in the area and prepared a report.
- Constituted a team of advocates and social activists to follow up the cases of the victims arrested from Delhi and Azamgarh. This team is coordinating the cases providing legal guidance, counseling and legal assistance.
- APCR Joined with the fact-finding team visited Jharkhand jails and prepared a detailed report and press release.
- Participated in the people’s tribunal in Hyderabad.
- At the time of Assam riots, a team of volunteer rushed to the area and arranged relief camps and distributed blankets, food materials and utensils to 30000 people in relief camps.
- Representative of APCR participated in the Human Rights Convention at Azamgarh.
- Participated APCR in free Binayak Campaign.
- Participated APCR in the student’s convention for Human Rights at Mumbai.
