Vision 2016 Activity Report Jan - May 2010


Welcome to the second issue of our VISION – 2016 Activity Update.

This updates presents highlights of our activities during the period of January 2010 to May 2010. Our important activities during this period includes the following:

Vision 2016 Activity Report 2009


Earnest welcome to you to the very first issue of our VISION – 2016 update magazine.

Super Speciality Hospital in AFE, New Delhi

The Super Speciality Hospital building construction is progressing smoothly Alhamdulillah. The basement structure has been completed. Half portion of the ground floor structure is in progress. As you are aware this is formally inaugurated by Maulana Jalaluddin Umari Saheb, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Hind in the presence of Dr. Samir Q Fakhro, Adviser to UNESCO on Information Technology and Education in Bahrain and other dignitaries were present at the Markaz Campus JIH, Dawat Nagar New Delhi.

Bihar flood relief and rehabilitation work

- Distributed 5000 blankets among flood affected people.
- Distributed 250 winter cloths among children.
- Repairing of 300 houses has been started.
- Repair work of 13 Madarsas/ Schools building completed.
- Repair work of 4 Masajids completed.
- Distributed food-grains among 220 families.
- Financial Support was given to 27 brides at the time of marriage.
- Coaching classes for metric students have been started at four places. Approximately 130 students are participating in each centre.
- Provided employment to 48 people.
- 51 hand-pumps were distributed.
- Medical treatment has been given to 71 patients those were seriously affected by water born-disease.

Social Service Wing Activities

The Social Service Department of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Assam, Bihar, West Bengal and Delhi organized Iftar Party in several places and distributed food materials and Cloths among the poor and needy people. Assam (North) has distributed an amount of Rs. 75,000/- among the poor and needy people during the month of Ramdhan. Ifthar kits were distributed to poor people in Delhi and suburbs.

Blankets were distributed among poor people at the time of winter in Hariyana, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand and UP.

Sponsorship obtained to Idare-e-Tahqeeqat Aligarh (Centre for Research and Studies) for constructing upstairs of the existing head quarters. The work is in progress.

Sponsored 100 more orphans at the cost of Rs.750 per month, apart from the existing sponsorship for 250 orphans.

Sponsored one orphanage at the cost of Rs.20 lakhs in Baleriaganj, UP. The initial work is going on.

Completed the construction of 10 more houses in different places of Meerut, Moradabad, Bijnore of UP, at the cost of Rs.25000 each house.

Conducted Qurbani programme On the occasion of Eidul Adha 1429H the Qurbani programmes have conducted in Bihar flood affected areas specially and Assam and Delhi in generaly. Thousands of flood-affected and poor and needy people have benefited by Qubani meet.

Allotted Rs.7 lakhs for school bag distribution among 1200 poor students in West Bengal, UP, Assam, Bihar and Jharkhand.

APCR - Socio-Legal Work

APCR is active in the field of socio-legal work.

Legal-Social Activists' Workshop in Karnataka Bangalore: To empower the deprived sections through legal literacy and to build a nationwide network of legal social activists, Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), Delhi organized a Karnataka Level three day workshop from 24-26 January in Bangalore. Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Director, Training Division of APCR in his inaugural word, while explaining the objectives and rationale of workshop in particular and development of nationwide network of paralegal social activists said, this is required for because of three reasons. Firstly, the increasing human rights violations demand enhanced efforts in the field, a group of activist at every level. Secondly, the existing human and civil rights groups are facing dearth of workers, especially the youths. And finally the suffering people need trained facilitators and crisis managers from their own locality and communities to avoid the over dependence on outside initiatives, which very often are not available in critical circumstances. The present workshop in the first step to achieve the above mentioned target.

Three days workshop a wide variety of issues and subjects ranging from Establishment of Justice in India, Responsibilities of Citizens, procedure of filling FIR, RTI, Case to situation of Human and Civil Rights in the state of Karnataka and amendments in Unlawful Association Prevention (UAPA), etc. District wise report of Human rights violation in Karnataka also has been presented of district representatives. As follow up program different assignment has been given to the participants, which includes practical as well as theoretical works. The next level training workshop is decided in three months time. Around 50 activists from different part of Karnataka participated in the workshop. Some of the resource persons were Advocate Akmal Rizvi, Secretary, APCR Karnataka Chapter, Advocate Mahmood Qazi, S.N.H Rizvi, Shabbir Ahmad Khan apart from Mahtab Alam, Coordinator,APCR. So far APCR organized first phase training workshops in Maharshtra, UP, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Chattishgarh. Next workshops are scheduled in Gujrat, Goa, Bihar, Jharkhand and Assam.

- At the time of Batla House encounter arranged a fact-finding mission in the area and prepared a report.

- Constituted a team of advocates and social activists to follow up the cases of the victims arrested from Delhi and Azamgarh. This team is coordinating the cases providing legal guidance, counseling and legal assistance.

- APCR Joined with the fact-finding team visited Jharkhand jails and prepared a detailed report and press release.

- Participated in the people’s tribunal in Hyderabad.

- At the time of Assam riots, a team of volunteer rushed to the area and arranged relief camps and distributed blankets, food materials and utensils to 30000 people in relief camps.

- Representative of APCR participated in the Human Rights Convention at Azamgarh.

- Participated APCR in free Binayak Campaign.

- Participated APCR in the student’s convention for Human Rights at Mumbai.

Pavilion at Pravasi Bhartiya Divas

Human Welfare Trust has organized a pavilion at the 7th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in Chennai during 7th to 9th Jan 2009 at Chennai Trade Centre to showcase its activities and projects to the Indian Diaspora. Mr. Vayalar Ravi, Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs inaugurated the pavilion. Prof. Siddique Hassan and other members of the Trust were present there. He was kind enough to spare a few minutes to see the exhibits displayed at the pavilion. The pavilion had exhibits on Women Empowerment, Micro Financing, Education, Health Care and Disaster Management. They gave the visitor an idea about what Human Welfare Trust under its ambitious VISION 2016 projects had contributed significantly in those areas and also what it plans to do for the next 8 years. Many Non-Resident Indians ( NRI's ) and Persons of Indian Origin ( PIO's ) from across the globe visited the pavilion.

Meeting at Chennai

On the sidelines of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas event HWT had also organized an exclusive Dinner meeting for the NRI's and eminent persons of Chennai at Hotel Radisson on 8th Jan 2009 at 7.00.p.m. The meeting was presided over by His Highness the Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali which was well attended by many prominent industrialists, CEO’s of Corporates, Management heads of institutions, Media persons, NRI’s and social activists. To mention a few among them are Mr. Gulfar Mohammed Ali , recipient of the prestigious Pravasi Samman award and Chairman of Gulfar Group of companies, Mr. Syed Hamid, Chancellor, Hamdard University, Mr. Imbichiammad, Managing Director of Avalon Technologies and Secretary general of MES group of institutions, Mr. Sitaraman, CEO of Doha Bank. Qatar, Mr. Hashim, a leather business tycoon Mr. Rafeeq Ahmed, FICCI President and Prof. Siddique Hassan, Secretary of Human Welfare Foundation.
